Continuing the Great British Art Debate at Museums Sheffield this summer, Watercolour in Britain: Tradition and Beyond will explore the remarkable diversity of a truly British art form. Featuring significant and rarely seen works from many artists, from contemporary artists Chris Ofili and Anish Kapoor, to JMW Turner and William Blake, the exhibition will look at watercolour’s iconic status in our cultural heritage and those artists who have pushed the boundaries of its potential.

The Power and the Passion

Ashley Jackson’s Yorkshire Love Affair

Sunday 3rd - Saturdayt 9th  October 2010

The Spirit Moves   Ashley Jackson

Celebrating his 70th Birthday, Jackson returns to the Mall Galleries.

Acclaimed as being the, ‘Turner of the 21st Century’ his dynamic and brooding landscapes capture the atmospheric skies of the Yorkshire Moorland.
Synonymous with Yorkshire his paintings are transcriptions of Mother Nature’s Love letters revealing the relationship between the man and his moor.

He will be unveiling a stunning collection of previously unseen work, for which he has spent his life time chasing the changing light in God’s County, where they may be all season’s in one day, leaving man exposed and open to the elements. No other artist can emulate his technique in such large scale watercolours; there is no camera or trickery just pure skill.

If there is one exhibition not to be missed this year, this is it; it has been over 25years since Jackson had a one man exhibition at the Mall Galleries

As an exclusive to the Mall Galleries, Ashley Jackson will be present throughout the exhibition.

Paula Reago: Oratorio.

Until 20th August 2010

LONDON.- Marlborough Fine Art presents an exhibition of new work by Paula Rego through 20th August. This is her first solo exhibition in London since 2006. The exhibition has three separate strands: the first is the Oratorio, a mixed media Triptych with a central panel and two wings which Paula created for her recent joint exhibition with Tracey Emin and Matt Collishaw at the Foundling Museum earlier this year. In addition to the Oratorio, there are six large conté works on paper relating to the Oratorio and its Foundling Museum origins.

French Drawings from Poussin to Seurat.

Thursday 23rd September, 2010 - Monday 3rd January, 2011

An outstanding collection of French drawings, which includes works by Poussin, Boucher, Ingres, Corot, Pissarro and Seurat; important works by lesser-known masters - Jeaurat, Lancrenon, Hesse and Dulac - and artist-writers Eugène Fromentin and George Sand, is at the Wallace Collection from 23 September. Over the last thirty years the National Gallery of Scotland has carefully and deliberately strengthened its holdings of French drawings to rival its holdings of French paintings.
